Unemployment a never ending problem

Dear Editor,

Often it is discussed and pondered upon as to why so many qualified youths of today including myself are unemployed even after the completion of graduation and Post-graduate Degree. The reasons responsible for this condition can be easily found in and around the society we live in.

If I am not wrong I think that most of the qualified youths of our state today are seeking political support either through their parents or by themselves for the establishment of their career. The mental set up of the youths is mould in such a way that says ‘I just need to pass the final exams and my job will be fixed by my parents".

Fortunately or unfortunately, most of the youths including myself being from the background of farming community  would be unable to afford the price required for fixing jobs and have no political backing; ultimately remain unable to grow out of this condition.

To put in simple words, our society is in a state where the rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer. Apart from this, there are also various factors responsible for unemployment in our state. And because of this unemployment problem we are really wasting our valuable human resource.

Here are some of my views that can be taken in order to tackle this problem. Firstly one should  make society and the government aware that it is their responsibility to give proper guidance, and fair opportunities to the youths; so that they can prove their worth in the upliftment of the society they live in. Secondly, one can also bring about the establishment of voluntary organizations that would enable the youths to speak up their opinions and needs. Thirdly, one can also use various modes of communication to bring about these awareness for, example, through print and electronic media, distribution of pamphlets  and peaceful demonstrations, etc.

Last but not least, the Govt. should make it a point that interviews held for various govt jobs in the state should be fair without political interference and any pre-fixed deals.

Yours

John Panyang
